چکیده

It has long been known that there is a relation between boundary sineGordon theory and thermodynamics of charge neutral two-component Coulomb plasma on a unit circle. On the other hand, recently it was found that open string worldsheet description of brane decay can be related to a sequence of points of thermodynamic equilibrium of one-component plasma. Here we consider a different decay process which is specifically described by the timelike boundary sine-Gordon theory. We find time evolution to be mapped to a onedimensional curve in the space of points of thermal equilibrium of a non-neutral two-component Coulomb plasma. We compute the free energy of the system and find that along the curve it is monotonously decreasing, defining a thermodynamic arrow of time.

Surface Tension of an Ideal Dielectric-Electrolyte Boundary: Exactly Solvable Model

The model under consideration is a semi-infinite two-dimensional two-component plasma (Coulomb gas), stable against bulk collapse for the dimensionless coupling constant β < 2, in contact with a dielectric wall of dielectric constant = 0. The model is mapped onto an integrable sine-Gordon theory with a “free” Neumann boundary condition. Using recent results on a reflection relationship between ...

Generalized solution of Sine-Gordon equation

In this paper, we are interested to study the Sine-Gordon equation in generalized functions theory introduced by Colombeau, in the first we give result of existence and uniqueness of generalized solution with initial data are distributions (elements of the Colombeau algebra). Then we study the association concept with the classical solution.

Surface Tension of a Metal-Electrolyte Boundary: Exactly Solvable Model

An ideal conductor electrode in contact with a semi-infinite two-dimensional twocomponent plasma in an external potential is considered. The model is mapped onto an integrable sine-Gordon theory with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The information gained from the mapping provides an explicit form of the surface tension in the plasma-stability regime.

Supersymmetric Extension of the Sine-Gordon Theory with Integrable Boundary Interactions

Integrability and supersymmetry of the supersymmetric extension of the sine-Gordon theory on a half-line are examined and the boundary potential which preserves both the integrability and supersymmetry on the bulk is derived. It appears that unlike the boundary bosonic sine-Gordon theory, integrability and supersymmetry strongly restrict the form and parameters of the boundary potential, so tha...

A ug 2 00 1 THE SPECTRUM OF BOUNDARY SINE - GORDON THEORY ∗

We review our recent results on the on-shell description of sine-Gordon model with integrable boundary conditions. We determined the spectrum of boundary states by closing the boundary bootstrap and gave a derivation of Al.B. Zamolodchikov's (unpublished) formulae for the boundary energy and the relation between the Lagrangian (ultraviolet) and bootstrap (infrared) parameters. These results hav...
